The Garden Today

What we are doing in the garden now

December 15, 2008

picture of fall roto-tilling picture of John applying lime to garden Threw some lime on the garden today, and then went over it two times with the tiller. Seem like every time we till this spot it gets a little bigger. Every week we try to dig up at least one or two major roots or root balls from our garden spot. It seems like a slow go at first, but the garden has grown a fair amount without anyone haveing to work like a mule grubbing the area out all at once. We figure to have almost 1600 square feet ready to plant by the time spring rolls around. Wish we were in a position to have a couple of these sickly old trees removed since a little more sunshine would not hurt anything.

picture of root ball John dug up Right after the holidays we intend to start a few seeds, so I guess we had better get started setting up our growing area. We will probably put together a small table and hang a grow light this weekend. Maybe Santa will hustle up with that web cam so we can try to get it up and running.

Don't forget to check back Gurney's for your plants and seeds!
